My poem of the week this week comes from Edgar Guest, a favorite of mine. I had my sons memorize this one last week and recite it this morning. There is much helpful here.<\/p>\n
Courage<\/b><\/p>\n
This is courage: to remain
\nBrave and patient under pain;
\nCool and calm and firm to stay
\nIn the presence of dismay;
\nNot to flinch when foes attack,
\nEven though you\u2019re beaten back;
\nStill to cling to what is right,
\nWhen the wrong possesses might.<\/p>\nThis is courage: to be true
\nTo the best men see in you;
\nTo remember, tempest-tossed,
\nNot to whimper, \u201cAll is lost!\u201d
\nBut to battle to the end
\nWhile you still have strength to spend;
\nNot to cry that hope is gone
\nWhile you\u2019ve life to carry on.<\/p>\nThis is courage: to endure
\nHurt and loss you cannot cure;
\nPatiently and undismayed,
\nFacing life still unafraid;
\nGlad to live and glad to take
\nBravely for your children\u2019s sake,
\nBurdens they would have to bear
\nIf you fled and ceased to care.
