My poem of the week last week was this great gospel declaration by Joseph Hart:<\/p>\n

\ntrust no longer dreams and lies,
\nOut of Christ, almighty pow\u2019r
\ncan do nothing but devour.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nBut he\u2019s pure and holy too;
\njust and jealous is his ire,
\nburning with vindictive fire.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nIsrael trembled when they heard.
\nBut the proof of proofs indeed
\nis he sent his Son to bleed.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nGod was clearly justified:
\nSin to pardon without blood
\nnever in his nature stood.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nthere he\u2019s love and there alone.
\nThink not that he will, or may,
\npardon any other way.<\/span><\/p>\n
\npanting, groaning, sweating blood!
\nBrethren, this had never been
\nhad not God detested sin.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nin the way himself has taught:
\nThere his clemency is such,
\nwe can never trust too much.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nbids us all to Jesus flee.
\nHumbly take him at his Word
\nand your souls will bless the Lord!<\/span><\/p>\n
