{"id":4569,"date":"2015-04-25T16:13:08","date_gmt":"2015-04-25T20:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rayvanneste.com\/?p=4569"},"modified":"2015-04-25T16:13:08","modified_gmt":"2015-04-25T20:13:08","slug":"the-end-of-comfortable-christianity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rayvanneste.com\/?p=4569","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe End of Comfortable Christianity\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The most recent issue of Touchstone magazine contains a powerful, timely editorial by Robert George titled, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1OSv4Iz\">Ashamed of the Gospel?: The End of Comfortable Christianity.\u201d<\/a> Here are the first two paragraphs:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The days of socially acceptable Christianity in the West are surely over. The days of comfortable Christian orthodoxy are past. It is no longer easy to be a faithful Christian, a good Catholic, an authentic Evangelical witness to the truths of the gospel. A price is demanded and must be paid. There are costs of discipleship\u2014costs that are burdensome and painful to bear.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, one can still safely identify oneself as a &#8220;Christian,&#8221; and even be seen going to worship services at church.
