He often posts theologically rich and powerfully emotive poems, some of his own and some from others. Today he posted the following poem which I particularly appreciated. The meter is 8.6.8.6 I believe, so it could be sung to &#8220;O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing,&#8221;\u009d &#8220;There is a Fountain,&#8221;\u009d or any other tune in that meter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christ&#8217;s Atoning Wounds<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 85%;\">M. Justin Wainscott, \u00a9 2009<\/span><\/p>\n<p>That sacred stream which ever flows,<br \/>\nFlows from the Savior&#8217;s wounds,<br \/>\nDoes in the souls of saints compose<br \/>\nSweet, Christ-exalting tunes.<\/p>\n<p>So let the saints in chorus flood<br \/>\nThis place with songs of praise;<br \/>\nAnd sing of Christ&#8217;s redeeming blood,<br \/>\nAnd marvel at his grace.<\/p>\n<p>The precious wounds of Christ above &#8211;<br \/>\nHis hands, his feet, his side &#8211;<br \/>\nStand as a witness to his love<br \/>\nFor us, his ransomed bride.<\/p>\n<p>Those wounds which paid our sinful debt<br \/>\nRemove all grounds for pride;<br \/>\nFor God&#8217;s requirements all were met<br \/>\nWhen Christ our Savior died.<\/p>\n<p>So let us boast in him alone,<br \/>\nAnd in the wounds he bears;<br \/>\nSince he who sits on heaven&#8217;s throne<br \/>\nThose sacred scars still wears.<\/p>\n<p>And when before that throne we stand,<br \/>\nAnd on our Savior gaze;<br \/>\nWe&#8217;ll truly come to understand,<br \/>\nHis wounds deserve our praise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you do not already read Justin Wainscott&#8217;s blog, Theology in Verse, I encourage you to do so.
