I came back across this poem this week as I have been contemplating communion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;In Remembrance of Me&#8221;\u009d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dear Jesus, Thou this feast hast spread,<br \/>\nInvited guests are we;<br \/>\nWe come as Thou hast bid us come,<br \/>\nThus to remember Thee.<\/p>\n<p>We come from sinful thought and aim,<br \/>\nMore earnestly to flee;<br \/>\nPardon to seek and grace to find,<br \/>\nAs we remember Thee.<\/p>\n<p>We come to thank Thee for Thy love<br \/>\nSo rich, so full, so free;<br \/>\nTo bless Thee, praise Thee, lose ourselves<br \/>\nAs we remember Thee.<\/p>\n<p>We come to lay the burdens down<br \/>\nThat press most heavily;<br \/>\nTo enter into perfect peace<br \/>\nAs we remember Thee.<\/p>\n<p>Our penitence, our love, our hope,<br \/>\nOh condescend to see,<br \/>\nAnd let us &#8216;bear a song away&#8217;\u009d<br \/>\nAs we remember Thee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Elizabeth Prentiss<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For several years now I have enjoyed Elizabeth Prentiss&#8217;s poem collection titled Golden Hours (now nicely reprinted by Solid Ground Christian Books).
